Iftikhar Hussain, popularly known as “IFTI” was born and bred in Ganesh Hunza region of Gilgit Baltistan. Since an early age he has been travelling and trekking throughout his life. He started his career with Pakistan Army, later moving on to the Public Works department building bridges and roads in the region. During this time he decided to become a full time travel and tour guide and its more than 25 years now and he has not looked back. He is a seasoned and a senior registered tour guide with expertise across the entire area.
Since last 25 years His fame has spread across the world and many climbers and mountaineers from Western Europe and the Far East, USA and Canada visit him ever year and value and hold him in high esteem. His hospitable jovial manner, fluent English and a deep knowledge of the mountain areas leaves one amazed and reassured. Ifti plays the flute and writes poetry as he participates in the local festivals. He is a natural born story teller and one is left mesmerized in tales of journeys and rescue missions he has undertaken.
Apart from this he is an active social worker in the Ganesh hunza area and the main person behind the Ganesh Hunza Heritage Village Conservation project.
